Description: Traceability Certificate is mandatory to export fresh fruits and vegetables to the European Union (EU). “Traceability” is the ability to track any food, feed, food-producing animal or substance that will be used for consumption, through all stages of production, processing, and distribution.
Legal Basis of the Certificate: Article 18 of Regulation EU 178/2002 (Importing Country Requirement)
Responsible Agency: Upazila Agriculture Office
Applicability: Anyone who wants to export from Bangladesh to the European Union (EU)
Time of Submission: Before export
Method of Submission: Manual
Prerequisite: Contract Farming arrangement is required to obtain the Traceability Certificate
Fee: Free of cost
Validity: Consignment-specific
Steps to obtain Traceability Information Certificate:
Step 1: Contact with Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) of the location where the Contract was signed for farming
Step 2: Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) sends a Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer to inspect the products harvested for export
Step 3: After the inspection, the Upazila Agriculture Officer issues the Certificate
