Bangladesh has maintained its position as the world's fourth-largest rice producer for over four decades, rising to third place in 2020, surpassing Indonesia. Its agricultural diversity extends to second place in jute and jackfruit production, third in vegetables, and significant rankings in other crops like potato and guava. Key exports include raw jute, jute products, and tea, while imports cover food grains, edible oil, spices, and more. As a member of the WTO, the Plant Quarantine Wing (PQW) is dedicated to adhering to international trade standards through the WTO-SPS Agreement. Operating within ports, PQW ensures compliance with phytosanitary measures during the import and export of plants and plant products, aligning with international agreements to uphold Bangladesh's plant quarantine activities to global standards.
